Journeyman or Apprentice Electricians
Journeyman electrician work will consist of installation, alterations, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the electrical construction industry.
Performs all electrical tasks with general supervisions, possess Journeyman Electrician license, has the ability to read blueprints, terminate cable, install and trouble shoot control wiring from drawing, is able to demonstrate experience factors exceeding an electrical helper and must be proficient on rough-in-work.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Install feeders, wire & conduit sizing, switchgear and device installation and termination, layout and preparation for installation, and underground layout and rough-in.
- Managing and calendaring projects and apprentice electrician.
- Daily reporting of job progress to management.
Skills include, but are not limited to:
- Fully comprehends Electrical theory and NFPA National Electrical code.
- Positively identify colors of wires.
- Comprehends reading and drawing prints and schematics
- Bend conduit by hand with hand benders.
- Use of power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders and knockout punches.
- Capable of digging trenches, back hoe, lift in safe manner.
- Practices and comprehends safe work procedures per company policy.
- Operate two- (2) handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools , jack hammers.
- Reads and interprets maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, blue prints & written instructions.
- Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts.
- Work on energized circuits and equipment as outlined in Safety Policy.
HVAC Installers & Technicians
Performs skilled HVAC technical work in the maintenance, repair, replacement, and installation of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, controls and distribution systems.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Install, design, fabricate and repair heating & air conditioning duct work for commercial & residential systems. New construction & remodels.
- Installs, troubleshoots and repairs heating, air conditioning and refrigeration units, including chillers, boilers and heat pumps.
- Troubleshoots malfunctioning heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems to determine the cause of the malfunction.
- Performs scheduled maintenance inspections, and adjusts, cleans and calibrates various systems to assure proper system operations.
- Repairs wiring and electronic components associated with automated building management systems.
- Replaces expansion valves, compressors, motors, coil units and other component parts.
- Cleans refrigerant systems from hermetic burnouts, evacuates, and charges systems.
- Troubleshoots and repairs direct digital and pneumatic control systems.
- Checks distribution systems for proper velocity, volume, temperature, pressure, etc.
- Balances air and water treatment systems.
- Determines cause of and corrects condensation problems.
- Provides technical assistance with the design of HVAC systems including installations and modifications to existing systems.
Journeyman Plumbers
Journeyman plumbers install, assemble, or repair pipes, fittings, or fixtures of heating, water, or drainage systems according to specifications or plumbing codes.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic, solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing, or welding equipment.
- Install pipe assembles, fittings, valves, appliances such as dishwashers or water heaters, or fixtures such as sinks or toilets, using hand or power tools.
- Keep records of work assignments.
- Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
- Direct helpers engaged in pipe cutting, preassembly, or installation of plumbing systems or components.
- Maintain or repair plumbing by replacing defective washers, replacing or mending broken pipes, or opening clogged drains.
- Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, or fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers or levels.
- Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipe to required angle, using hand or power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, or pipe-bending machines.
- Review blueprints, building codes, or specifications to determine work details or procedures.
- Anchor steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.
- Estimate time, material, or labor costs for use in project plans.
- Install underground storm, sanitary, or water piping systems, extending piping as needed to connect fixtures d plumbing.
- Inspect structures to assess material or equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, or to plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring.
- Install green plumbing equipment, such as faucet flow restrictors, dual-flush or pressure-assisted flush toilets, or tankless hot water heaters.
- Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes or pipe fittings, using hand or power tools.
